ACTIVITES AROUND GOKOVA

The Eucalyptus Tree Walk

This is a lovely walk which takes 3 hours to complete. You start it by crossing over the main bridge from the mouth of the river and walk along the conservation area for about 20 minutes, crossing over one small wooden bridge. Take the left hand side when you come to the dirt track next to the tall green fences, this will lead you through fields/countryside.

Walk for around 20 minutes until you come to the end of this road, then take the left turning. At this stage you will be between the fences. Turn to your right when you come to the fork in the road. Cross the main Marmaris road to Eucalyptus tree road and take the left hand side and walk until you come to the roundabout. At this stage you will probably need a tea break, the tea house is opposite the roundabout.

Afterwards go back to the Eucalyptus trees, cross the concrete bridge and take the left hand side at the erıd of this road. Walk further on for 5-6 minutes and go under a short tunnel. Bear left until you see the rock tomb and further on the Roman waterwheel, which Looks like half a dome painted white. Walk on past the river and the river restaurants and stay on the left hand side until you come to the main street of Akyaka village.

Azmak River Tour

A delightful half day cruise spent on the inland waters and seas around Akyaka. it provides a completely leisurely time to just sit back and enjoy the views.

AllI aboard and heading downstream the river displays a wealth of fish and habitat which exist in its clear crystal waters. Meandering through the reed beds, the banks on either side are a home to a variety of wildlife -an electric blue flash darts across as the kingfisher sweeps over the river's surface. Tales of the river bank!

Cruising along Akyaka's two beautiful rivers we later divert to the sea and leisurely ride the waves of the Gulf of Gokova, passing on to Cinar Beach where we finally take a swim and rest awhile before returning to base.

Sedir Adasi (Cleopatra's Island)

This is a small island near Tasbuku, where ruins can be found which date back to the Roman Empire in 4 BC. Before that time it was Anthony and Cleopatra's love nest. The island has a magnificent lagoon beach with velvet soft sand which, it is said, Anthony brought in from the Sahara for his beloved Cleopatra (don't some women just have it all!). The sand is indeed of a different texture to all others in the area.

How to get there: If you have a car you can drive towards Tasbuku and then take a short boat trip to the island. There is an entrance fee of approximately £ 3.00 per person. Otherwise simply spend an enjoyable and wonderfully lazy day on our 'Blue Cruise' which incorporates Cleopatra's Island.

Blue Cruise

A wonderfully lazy day spent meandering around the beautiful Bay of Gokova .

Anchor's up and as we gradually cruise away from Akyaka's small harbour, the scenes on shore, the characteristic red-roofed houses of the village set within this natural and outstanding setting slowly disappear from view.

Aboard our traditional Turkish gulet, it's an idle day spent, stopping at bays and dipping into clear blue waters to cool down. Soak up the sun and admire the land and seascapes from deck. We visit 'English Harbour', which has received an award as Turkey's prettiest bay, Okluk and the stunning beach at Cleopatra's Island. What better way is there to relaxation?!

White Water Rafting

white water rafting has often called "the experience of a life time" by our previous guests who have adored this adventure.

The settings is the Dalaman River which winds its way through spectacular countryside a breathtaking array of gorges, valleys and totally secluded beauty sports.

Your professional and friendly instructor gives you all the information and equipment you need to start you on your way.

Idyma Rock Tombs

This is a group of 'pigeon hole' style rock tombs which are the remaining parts of an Ionic rock temple at the Iower entrance of Akyaka. These tombs date back to 4 BC from the Caria-Idyma time.

        How to get there:

If you are good walkers take the riverside road (past the three restaurants on your right) keep walking on road. The road will take you to near main road where you can see the tombs on the mountain side from the concrete bridge.
